It is a sad day indeed when State or Local Officials forget the cost of gaining the right to free speech and democracy in Ireland. Sadder still when a historic party like Fianna Fail chooses to forget the values and principles of it's own foundation to adopt the meaningless and worthless opportunism of the modern politic. But then, Irishness, personal principle, the continuance of our native tongue, the value & courage of simple parents and children asking for a decent education of their choice, are not power issues that can add to the material welfare or status of a modern politician in Europe. We seem to have merely exchanged a foreign imperialism for a less cultured and less caring home grown one.

Where are the SELFLESS representatives who will stand for the needs and rights of the ordinary people of Ireland? Where are the men and women who can again inspire our trust and model a justice and honesty that makes us proud to be Irish? I felt sick to my stomach when I heard of what happened on the streets of my native town of Clonmel, and thanked my God that I have been privileged to live on the mission field rather than witness the shallow betrayal yet again of my people by their elected representatives.

I know one thing…Jesus remains on the part of the widow, orphan, elderly, ordinary, the parent fighting for the rights of his and her child. This class dominated materialistic Ireland is far from His vision of nationhood or that of our fathers.

I was there too. I still have not recovered from the a) the level of aggression from the blue rinse brigade and b) the anti Irish language biases. One of these blue rinses called me(us) elitest yet she sent her son to fee paying rockwell. If it wasn't so seious it would be bizarre

Just an add on ..
one of the former candidates for FF in our area has appologised for his words and the conduct of the FF supporters .. I am aware he has been trying to contact other parents on this matter

sadly to the best of my knowledge I am not aware of any other appologies to parents or the school

not really .. still irate.. local radio had this on all morning.. national press only begining to catch up

local cumann to blame in my opinion for what has happened at the protest .. and even in the radio discussion it was clear that as many parents spoke out over the hurling of insults and taunts at parents and children there is going to be no reprieve in this.
One Woman phoned in and even stated that children should be seen and not heard.. I ask you .. in this day and age when we try to educate our children in how a democratic state is run, who has the right to say this.

Children should be heard .. and when they are getting sick due to poor ventilation, windows nailed shut and toilet facilities that most homes now have more urinals than. Crazy isnt it that a school ranked in the top 3 for primary schools in ireland has no green area .. no safe play area .. and where the parents pay a percentage of rent for a building that they deemed unfit for their employees..

no I dont think this rant is over just yet.. and no matter who gets the coveted chair of head of our state with their bloated income it will not be one until primary and secondary schools around ireland are not forced into a game of chase the minister .. just to gain their rights in our state.
